This is my lit class this semester, or my Area of Inquiry (AOI) at Drake. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm a huge literature nerd, but some things I can't stand in the class are this:
1. I am the only boy. There are 28 students, and I am the sole male representative.
2. The girls who think they're smart, but just make really obvious comments on the novel, either because they're dumb, or they didn't do the reading assignment for that day and Sparknoted it.
3. The girls who basically sum up what someone has just said, for example: A girl says, "I think Sula is a sexual character because she flirts with a lot of men." The next girl has something to 'add', "I think that because Sula is flirtatious, that she is also sexual." Thanks for the wisdom you just imparted second girl, really original!!!
4. There are people who fall asleep in class when over half of our grade is based on in-class participation.
5. Our professor is looking for a certain, very obvious, answer and none of the girls can come up with it.
Mind you, this is not to boast about how "amazingly smart" I am or anything, it is just an expression of my frustration.

This is my blog. It's about my life as a college student, an actor and a human. All of my posts are honest.

Zoo Story
So, at Drake University, which is the school I attend for my BFA in Musical Theatre, I recently was cast in a one-act play called Zoo Story by Edward Albee. It is EFFED UP. It is seemingly this sweet, slightly comical story about an uptight man met with a shabby, crazy park-dweller, but it takes a very interesting turn toward the end.
You start reading it, and you think,"Oh, the uptight man is going to have a realization that life isn't so bad, and he is going to help out the crazy guy." Not at all.
The reason I'm spouting about this is because we had our first read-through today, and I was much more interested in the play than I had intended. It is also pretty anti-type for me. I play an uptight, normal guy, which would be a first.
This play is going to be a big challenge, and I am ready for it. I cannot wait to get in the process, and really dig in to the play's meaning, which I still have yet to pin down.
Other than that, my next couple days will be lonely, so expect blogs. My friends are headed off to a big audition for acting students in the Mid West, which I mistakenly didn't sign up for.

Lazy Sundays
Sundays for me are like going to bed while still being awake. I know that I have plenty to do, yet somehow I still wait until about 9 or 10 to start completing these tasks. For example: monologue memorization, journaling, reading for classes, laundry and rearranging.
Even with all this said, Sundays still seem to drag on, until you get to that pivotal hour of work.
I don't know how I feel about my new laptop yet.
I am tired, but unwilling to go to sleep in fear that I might miss something.

first blog ever,
Hello, all!
Welcome to my blog.
I'm not quite sure what this is for, or why I'm even doing it, but there's a first time for everything. Let me first get started by saying that my blog will be honest and forthright, so I apologize in advance for any hurt feelings.
Thanks!
