Women and Literature

This is my lit class this semester, or  my Area of Inquiry (AOI) at Drake. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm a huge literature nerd, but some things I can't stand in the class are this:

1. I am the only boy. There are 28 students, and I am the sole male representative.

2. The girls who think they're smart, but just make really obvious comments on the novel, either because they're dumb, or they didn't do the reading assignment for that day and Sparknoted it.

3. The girls who basically sum up what someone has just said, for example: A girl says, "I think Sula is a sexual character because she flirts with a lot of men." The next girl has something to 'add', "I think that because Sula is flirtatious, that she is also sexual." Thanks for the wisdom you just imparted second girl, really original!!!

4. There are people who fall asleep in class when over half of our grade is based on in-class participation.

5. Our professor is looking for a certain, very obvious, answer and none of the girls can come up with it.

Mind you, this is not to boast about how "amazingly smart" I am or anything, it is just an expression of my frustration.

BLAH BLAH BLAH.
