Spring Break

Sorry I haven't blogged in a while. A particularly big sorry to Chris Byers.

Spring Break has been fun. The first night, I reconnected with my best friends, whom I LOVE.

The next night, I saw my  old high school's production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. I don't get easily embarrassed, just slightly awkward, and that is what happened that night. The show ended, and thus begun the Megamix. The first bows featured some very hardworking seniors who deserved a moment, so I thus began the standing ovation, thinking the old people would follow in suit. They did not. Apparently, everyone thinks you have to wait until the end to do so. Dumb. The idea is that you stand when you enjoy a particular performance from everyone, which I did. So...after about a minute of standing, I moved back down into my seat, and clapped above my head, an appropriate substitute.

More notable moments include plenty of quality time with my best friends Nathan and Bitzy, and my friend Tom Lewis, a beefy, hunky, manly sophomore boy with an interest in theatre and sports. Needless to say, he's fun.

Tuesday night, I saw HAIR! It was friggin sweet. Seats were in the balcony, so the sightline wasn't amazing, but the production was great. It was the national tour that ran in Chicago. The lighting was impeccable. My only complaint is the sound levels. The pit was a little too loud. However, it was a lot of fun to see.

I have become hooked to a new tv show called Shameless. It's on Showtime, which sucks because I am not subscribed at home to Showtime. I was introduced to the show by Bitzy. We watched two episodes at her house. It was wonderful!!! It isn't afraid to explore real life, and it doesn't need to explain itself. It's great.

Another notable moment was my dinner with my friend/mentor/teacher Heidie BW Dunn. She is the most influential person in my life. She is most of the reason that I am doing theatre. She is amazing. Unfortunately, she's been going through rough times lately, but I am wholly there to support her.

Thursday. Oh, Thursday. That was St. Patrick's day. Also known as: Pick Up Your Drunk Ass Brother From the Bar Day. Let's just say, there was puke and incoherency.

My break has been a lot of fun, and a lot of abandonment of responsibilities. Now, heading back to Drake University tomorrow morning, a looming sense of work floats over me, but I am ready to tackle it!

Back to the ol' daily grind!
